“Teesdale Day Club’s lunch club in Mickleton has been running for over 30 years. One of 9 lunch clubs the charity provides across Teesdale it offers a hearty home-cooked meal and good company, which many villagers have enjoyed during that time.  The lunch club is at the heart of our community, providing the opportunity for people to come together every week for companionship, laughter, talks, quizzes, and films.  Held in the village hall, which is accessible, the club runs from 11.30am – 2.00pm every Thursday. When funds raised by the club allow, there are occasional trips and meals out. As part of Teesdale Day Clubs overall charitable services, there is a free community support service available to all lunch club members. This service can help people individually with a range of issues, including filling out welfare benefit forms, helping with practical issues, and making referrals to specialist services. Whilst being open to all residents, the charity especially welcomes adults who are lonely or are at risk of social exclusion for any reason.

Currently, there are spaces available at Mickleton lunch club, which welcomes people from Mickleton, Eggleston, Romaldkirk and the surrounding area.  Anyone over the age of 18 can join and whilst personal care is not provided, carers and family members are most welcome.
